Walking, Talking Technical, Practicing… all in a day’s fun!

Day three of our WRC adventures has come to an end.

A much shorter and less hectic day than yesterday that’s for sure. Mind you it seems the time change had a bit more of an effect for some today.

The athletes started off the day with a walk around downtown before heading back to the hotel for a technical talk with the coaching staff. Then it was a hotel lunch and they were off to the rink for practice.
GREAT news! Katie and Jenna finally got their sticks. After heading to the airport to claim them, we were informed that the sticks had been delivered to our hotel this morning. Urgh, I guess we should have checked before we headed off. But this did mean that Tracey and I were off on yet another adventure.

We decided to buy a map (finally) on our way back from the airport. We figured our luck with finding locations by following our instincts was going to run out sooner or later. We took a chance and stopped in at the market just off the high way. Turns out they do have them. I’ll let you guess how much a map of Tampere cost. What you do think?.... nope higher! But i twas worth it, this way we can’t get lost anymore. Right Tracey?

So we picked up the sticks and headed to the rink for practice. It was pretty awesome to watch the whole practice today. These athletes are really amazing to watch. The speed, the finesse and the intensity they demonstrate is amazing. Again, I can’t wait to see them in game action!

I took lots of pics at today’s practice, check them out on our Flickr site: http://bit.ly/dcksnE

Even as intense and focused as they are, athletes still took a few moments to pose for the camera today J (Jenn, Julie et Steph http://bit.ly/cH9c04  ) (Colleen http://bit.ly/dbgz5e )
After practice we put the final touch on the Team Canada 2010 look... the numbers on the helmets! http://bit.ly/bxleMW

It was a group effort to pull off this year’s attire. I HUGE thank you to NAMI for providing equipment, jerseys, pants and off-ice attire for the team. Thanks to the Ringette Store for the logo and number design on the pants. They look AWESOME! And thanks to Rink Pro Sports for the quick turn around on the helmet numbers!

After practice it was off to a team dinner at pizzeria napoli ristorante. (http://bit.ly/9bdGfl). Excellent food and very quick service. I certainly recomend this place if you are ever in Tampere. (You can still get here on time for the first game... just sayin’)

We are now back at the hotel. The athletes had a team building session. They assured me it would be short, with no real photo op or anything to report back. So I opted to head on to my room and write up today’s blog. I assure you that if I hear of any newsworthy item that came from this activity I will be sure to report back tomorrow.

Not a very long blog today, but that just about sums it up.
